Ridiculously Awesome Comic of the Week for June 27, 2007: The Immortal Iron Fist #6

Sweet #$&%$!! Christmas!

The Immortal Iron Fist #6 wraps up the first story arc for the fledgling series and is one of the most ridiculously awesome comics I have ever read. EVER.

EVER!

I know the words I have chosen are strong words. I know that I’m rather smitten with the talents of Ed Brubaker, Matt Fraction and Daniel Aja and their work on this title. I know I like Iron Fist a lot better than most folks. I know I may be medically diagnosed as a crazy person.

But seriously, if you buy one comic this week or this month (hell, maybe this year), buy this one. It has everything you could possibly want in a comic: non-stop action, two Iron Fists fighting Hydra goons miles deep, comedy, the original Heroes for Hire, pathos, the Steel Serpent being very, very mean, action, kicking, punching and shooting a’ plenty, evil kung fu bird women, snapping necks, screaming, crazy $h!t, exploding chi, more kicking, last minute heroic rescues, payback, kung fu, flashbacks to gentler times, more exploding chi, cutting off heads (almost)… the list goes on and on.

I’m truly rendered speechless by such awesomeness. This may just well be a perfect comic. I can’t believe there are only 22 pages to this thing.

I don’t want to do a play-by-play summary or reprint what’s already been printed verbatim because it would detract from what is one of the best packages of characterization, dialogue, stunning art and just kick ass storytelling from top to bottom I have ever witnessed. I wouldn’t want to ruin this experience for anyone.

Seriously, I was hoping for a good ending to this initial arc because I think it’s one of the best out there, but this blew my mind.
