Friday Night Fights! Uppercut! Round 3! Batman vs. Wildcat!

July 6, 2007

I’m not going to say much more than the sheer awesomeness of this fight blew the mind of a very impressionable and very wee Wicked Juan. To this day, I still count it as one of my very favorite comics. It features a classic super hero punch out for the ages. Ladies and gentlemen, Blah-g de Wicked Juan proudly presents a Friday Night Fights extravaganza:

BRAVE and the BOLD 118: BATMAN vs. WILDCAT!!!

Quite possibly the greatest comic of all time

Brought to you by the pugilistic talents of “Battling” Bob Haney and “Jawbreaker” Jim Aparo!

Only the Joker could devise something this twisted. And I love him for it.

Boxing has a neutral corner? No. JOKER BOXING has a neutral corner.

Batman and Wildcat fight to save a dog! KICK ASS!

No words can come close to describing just how awesome this page is…

PTOW! Double Kayo! Batman throws a left hook at the same time that Wildcat throws an uppercut and both fighters hit the canvas!

Who wins? Who loses? What happens to the dog? Bahlactus keeps the score!

Krusty-Os: The Best You Can Expect from a TV Clown!

July 6, 2007

I’ve really don’t have much to blah-g about today, dear reader(s). I had a busy day and am feeling as though my power cells are a bit low. Random notes of randomness:

  • I saw Transformers yesterday. I may even write a mini-review. I don’t remember seeing Tom, but I wasn’t really looking that hard.
  • Thursday Comics always throw my universe off-center a bit, just because.
  • I walked away with a fat stack of Thursday Comics, none of which I got to read yet.
  • Tonight was Trivia Night. We did ok. Completely clobbered the 80s Cartoons and John Hughes Movies categories. A mind is a beautiful thing to waste… even though I had no idea Hughes directed National Lampoon’s Vacation.
  • Went to Kwik E Mart. Like, from The Simpsons. Pictures and details below.
  • Went CD shopping. Our Tower Records is long gone, but Silver Platters stands in its place. I was shocked to discover it. So shocked, I shopped for about half an hour and walked away with nothing. It was as if someone said the magical words “open bar.” I just froze.
  • Long. Drive. Home.

For those keeping score at home, these are the Thursday Comics that followed me home:

  • All-Star Superman #8 -  Every issue is worth the wait.
  • The Astounding Wolf-Man #1 Directors Cut - I could not say no. Wolf. Man.
  • The Astounding Wolf-Man #2 - I say again: Wolf. Man. This has to be awesome.
  • New Warriors #2 - Because I’m always down with someone sticking it it to The Man and the first issue was fun.
  • Fallen Son: The Death of Captain America: Iron Man - It’s difficult for me to resist Jeph Loeb comics. That and I’m still bitter about the whole Civil War/Cap debacle. And I kinda want to see how they send him off.
  • The Irredeemable Ant-Man #10 - Ant-Man is coming out of the Hulk’s nose and that’s just on the cover. You know this has to be great.
  • Thor #1 - Just because. Gotta check it out.
  • Invincible TPB Vol. 8 - Proving once again I have the wherewithal to hold out for something in trade. I was on the slow bus to Invincible and have enjoyed reading it in collected form.
  • Essential Fantastic Four #2 - Been back-collecting these because I really feel like I should own them. I’d feel dirty otherwise.

Slow Bus Reading (because I am sometimes late to get to the good stuff):

  • X-Men First Class Special: George came through and delivered. I missed this completely, thinking it would be in the hardcover, but he found me a copy. George rules.
  • Fantastic Four #545 - Now I won’t read 544 and 546 and go “I feel like I missed something…” Welcome to my world.
  • Criminal #6 and #7 - I have no idea why I’m not getting this in my pull box. I might have to now.

After trivia tonight, we visited The Simposons-themed Kwik E Mart. The Kwik E Mart is located on Denny Way in downtown Seattle, a couple blocks from Seattle Center. The exterior of the Kwik E Mart is top notch, a great homage to the movie and really fun. They should replace all 7-11s with Kwik E Marts. This is some of the most clever marketing I have ever seen. And it’s a market…

Bad puns, I am filled with them and powerless to resist.

Mmmmm… convenience.

As you can see, it was a beautiful night in downtown Seattle, perfect for convenience store shopping.

Marge is even more stunning in person than on television.

I think Marge is taller than me, by hair alone. And I am no slouch in the height or hair department.

The inside was a bit dull. Typical 7-11, though with some loosely scattered Simpsons signage and some Simpsons-themed merch available. Sadly, there was no Duff.

Krusty-Os: The Best You Can Expect from a TV Clown!

A bowl of Krusty-Os filled with a nice cold can of Duff? Heaven.

My phone actually takes decent pictures…

For somoene who didn’t have a whole lot to blah-g about, I sure did fill some space.

Tomorrow’s Fight Night! Get ready!
